Compared with traditional stickers, self-adhesive stickers have the advantages of no need to brush glue, no paste, no need to dip in water, no pollution, save labeling time, and can be used in various The occasion is convenient and fast. Various types of stickers with different fabrics, adhesives and backing paper can be applied to materials that ordinary paper stickers cannot. It can be said that self-adhesive is a universal sticker. The printing of self-adhesive stickers is very different from traditional printing. Self-adhesive stickers are usually printed and processed on a sticker linkage machine, and multiple processes are completed at one time, such as graphic printing, die-cutting, waste discharge, sheet cutting or duplication. volume etc. That is, one end is the raw material input of the whole roll, and the other end is the output of the finished product. The finished product is divided into single or rolled stickers, and the finished stickers can be directly applied to the product. Therefore, the printing process of self-adhesive stickers is more complicated, and the requirements for equipment performance and the quality of printing staff are also higher.

First of all, we must also understand the basic structure and function of each part of the self-adhesive material as a printed material. The structure of the self-adhesive material is composed of three parts on the surface, namely the surface material, the adhesive and the backing paper, but from the perspective of manufacturing process and quality assurance, the self-adhesive material is composed of seven parts:

1. Back painting or back printing

Backcoat is a protective coating on the back of the liner to prevent waste discharge, and the adhesive around the rewind label adheres to the liner. Another role is to make multi-layer labels. The function of back printing is to print the registered trademark or pattern of the manufacturer on the back of the backing paper, which plays the role of publicity and anti-counterfeiting.


2. Surface coating

Used to change the surface properties of the face material. Such as increasing the surface tension, changing the color, increasing the protective layer, etc., to make it better accept the ink and easy to print, prevent dirt, increase the adhesion of the ink, and prevent the printed graphics from falling off. Surface coating is mainly used for non-absorbent materials such as aluminum foil, aluminized paper and various film materials.


3. Surface material

That is, the surface material is the material that accepts the image printed on the front and the adhesive on the back and applies it to the object being pasted.

Generally, any flexible deformable material can be used as a fabric for self-adhesive materials, such as commonly used paper, films, composite foils, various textiles, thin metal sheets and Rubber etc. The type of facestock depends on the application and printing process. The surface material should be suitable for printing and printing, have good ink adhesion, and have enough strength to accept various processing such as die-cutting, waste discharge, slitting, punching and labeling.


4. Binder

The adhesive acts as the link between the label material and the adhesive substrate. According to its characteristics, it can be divided into two types: persistent type and movable type. It has a variety of formulas for different face materials and different occasions. Adhesive is an important part of self-adhesive material technology and the key to label application technology.


5. The release coating (silicon coating) is to apply a layer of silicone oil on the surface of the backing paper. Applying silicone oil can make the backing paper a very smooth surface with very low surface tension. The role is to prevent the adhesive from sticking to the backing paper. Predominant.


6. Bottom paper

The role of the backing paper is to accept the release agent coating, protect the adhesive on the back of the facestock, and support the facestock so that it can be die cut on a labelling machine, discarded and labelling.


7. Apply the bottom layer

Same as Surface Coating, but on the back of the surface material. The main purpose of the primer is to:

(1) Protect the surface material from the penetration of adhesives.

(2) Increase the opacity of the fabric;

(3) Increase the bonding force between the adhesive and the surface material;

(4) Prevent the plasticizer in the plastic surface material from penetrating into the adhesive, affecting its adhesive performance, resulting in the reduction of the adhesive force of the label and the peeling of the label.
